El Camino Hospital Begins Workflow Planning

The Yellow Brick team was onsite at El Camino Hospital from December 10-12, 2018, to plan for the activation of the organization’s new Behavioral Health building and Integrated Medical Office Building. Workflow and operational planning is an important task during the transition phase of a project as key decisions made during this phase directly impact transition milestones and future operations.

Partnering with interdisciplinary teams from the organization, Yellow Brick evaluates workflows that will be impacted by the new activation such as paths of travel, medical code responses, distribution of materials and supplies, the collection of waste, and facility access. Based in six-sigma LEAN methodology, Yellow Brick provides recommendations for improvements in operations, service, quality, and efficiency. Outputs and plans from this phase of the project are incorporated into the organization’s Orientation and Training program.
